Free Violin Lessons Guide

Finding a suitable next song to learn on the violin is one of the difficulties that many people face.

That’s why I put together a little tutorial guide where you can find all of the beginner lessons.

You can easily find online violin lessons to learn with this method!

My Personal Recommendations

There are enough free violin lessons in the violin lesson guide to keeping you practicing for days, so it can be difficult to know where to begin. Below is a list of the best lessons: those that have been the most popular, shared the most, or that I think are a good place to start.

Remember, it’s less important which song you practice (there are plenty of good beginner songs).

If you want to make the most progress, pay close attention to the following points while watching violin lessons:

1. Are you playing in tune?

Learning to play in tune is one of the most difficult aspects of learning the violin. Since you’re learning the violin through online lessons, no one will be able to tell if you’re playing in tune. That is why you must pay close attention to yourself! You might even want to record yourself playing the songs you learned in the online lessons and listen to them. Were there any notes that sounded out of tune? Try it again, and this time play it in tune!

2. Are you having the right bow hold?

I can’t tell you how much the bow hold has been bothering me. I understand how difficult it is. However, from the start, pay close attention to your bow hold. You will learn the proper bow hold from the beginning in this manner. Make sure to check your bow hold as often as possible while learning with the free online violin lessons listed below. Make sure you fix your bow hold if you notice it has become less beautiful than you had hoped!

3. Is your left hand in the right position?

The failure to align the wrist and elbow is one of the most common mistakes made by beginners. When playing, keep your wrist and elbow aligned at all times.

If you pay attention to these three things while learning to play the violin with these beginner violin lessons, you’ll be well ahead of the majority of online violin students. You did an excellent job!

Intermediate Violin Lessons

For intermediate violinists, I recommend the following lessons:

  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TQCNtZZQ_k
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfLwYAIVx4E

  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCkmw9hvX1E

If you’re looking for something to listen to while you’re doing something else, the songs listed above are ideal.

  1. Would you like to work on longer songs?
  2. Learn how to bow in various ways (such as legato: playing several notes on one bow stroke)
  3. String changes that are more complicated (changing from the G string to the A string quickly within a piece)
  4. Fingering that is difficult to master. So, if you’re fingering that, you’ll feel like this:

By the way, no matter what level you are at, the image above will always be the general feeling you will have when learning the violin.

In addition, I recommend learning the 3rd position. You can accomplish this by

  1. Practicing simple third-position scales
  2. Playing basic songs in the third position

If you’re unfamiliar with the term “third position,” it simply means you’re playing higher up on the string (placing your first finger where normally your third finger would be, hence 3rd position). If you’re still confused, don’t worry about it right now; instead, focus on the other items listed above.
